About Pathfinder Mountaineering

The Pathfinders originated in the cavern that was Hadrian's Wall in Falkirk. After the sad demise of that facility, we have continued to organise meets, both indoor and outdoor. During the winter months some of us will be found at the EICA at Ratho on Thursday evenings and, on other evenings, at the Glasgow Climbing Centre in Ibrox. Some members are also normally to be found further afield. We are not a club in the strictest sense, but more an informal group who climb with one another. We arrange trips/meets all over Scotland and Northern England during the summer months, however, midweek meets generally take place at a venue from the Lowland Outcrops guide.

We participate in all forms of climbing but, outdoors, we are strong supporters of traditional Scottish ethics. There is a broad spread of ability/experience within the group, and all abilities are catered for at meets. We have created this website as a way of sharing the pleasure we get from climbing, walking and mountaineering in the hope that others will be encouraged to join in.

Our message board is a private resource for registered members to stay in touch and plan activities. If you would like to join in see the contact us web page on this site. All we ask is that any member contributes by attendance and suggestions for meets. There are a few of us who are active in winter, travelling throughout the country seeking good conditions. If you are interested in joining up, feel free. No matter your ability, you will find climbing partners and gain experience.
